Database Maintenance Moves To The UTILITIES Menu In WINSALES ADMINISTRATOR
WINSALES installation 5.0.101 (click here to run WSUPDATE) implements a change to database maintenance procedures
in the WINSALES ADMINISTRATOR. The UTILITIES menu has been added to the WINSALES
ADMINISTRATOR and the Optimize/Compact and Rebuild Indexes choices have been moved
from the FILE menu to the UTILITIES menu.
To enable the UTILITIES menu:
Log into the WINSALES ADMINISTRATOR
Select SECURITY GROUPS from the EDIT menu
Select a Security Group from the list of security groups
From the CHOICES list select WINSALES ADMINISTRATOR + MENU ITEMS + UTILITIES
Click the arrow pointed to the ENABLED list and SAVE
Repeat the steps for each group you want the UTILITIES menu item enabled for.
The Optimize/Compact process has been changed to not prompt for the database if the user
is logged into a database and selecting the menu item. The program will optimize the
database you are logged into. If you click CANCEL at the Connect To Database window
and select Optimize/Compact from the UTILITIES menu the program will prompt for a
database to be selected. For more information on the Optimize/Compact function please
review SUP229.
The Rebuild Indexes choice under Utilities drops all the existing database indexes
and recreates the default database indexes. This is useful when a database is
suffering from index corruption. For more information on the Rebuild Indexes
function please review SUP181.
